🔶 1. What is Gift Aid and how does the Donation Station help collect it?
🔸Gift Aid is a UK tax scheme that allows charities to claim an extra 25% on donations made by UK taxpayers. This means that for every £10 donated, the charity can claim an additional £2.50 from HMRC.
🔸To claim Gift Aid you need to submit the Name and Address of the Donor in a set format directed by HMRC. You may decide to submit this on a yearly, or more frequent basis.
🔸When Gift Aid is activated on the Donation Station, it will gather all required information from your Donors.
🔸Currently, the Donation Station does not submit Gift Aid claims directly, meaning you will need to download Gift Aid reports on a regular basis from the GWD Customer Portal to use within your HMRC submission.
🔶 2. What if we are using GASDS?
🔸If you are using the GASDS scheme, you do not need to switch on the Gift Aid request on your Donation Station Pro.
🔸You can just download Donation Reports from the GWD Customer Portal in order to reconcile which donations you can claim GASDS on. i.e. All those under £30, up to a maximum of £2,000 per year. Read More
🔶 3. How does the Donation Station collect Gift Aid?
🔸After the Donor has donated the Donation Station will ask if they would like to give Gift Aid with their donation.

🔸If the Donor agrees, the Donation Station will ask the Donor to declare they are a UK taxpayer. Once confirmed the Donor can enter their details.
🔶 4. Will the Donation Station collect gift aid for all future donations?
Yes!
🔸As standard, the Donation Station will ask the Donor if they would like to Gift Aid all their future donations
🔸This means if they use the same card to donate in the future, the Donation Station will automatically remember their Gift Aid details for your HMRC submission.
Remember My Donor is only available when the Donation Station is being used in online mode
🔶 5. How do I make a Gift Aid claim with HMRC?
To claim Gift Aid, you will need to:
🔸a. Ensure your organisation is registered with HMRC (Charities Online Account)
🔸b. Download the Gift Aid report from the GWD Customer Portal
