# How to Collect and Use Email Addresses with the Donation Station

#### Collecting donor email addresses allows you to build lasting relationships and unlock further fundraising potential. With the Donation Station, you can invite donors to stay in touch — right at the point of giving.

#### 🔶1. Why collect donor email addresses?

Engaging donors after they give is a proven way to increase lifetime support — whether that’s through newsletters, volunteering, or regular giving. The Donation Station makes this easy by offering an **email opt-in** prompt after a donation is made.

🔸You can ask questions such as:

- - “Would you like to stay in touch?”
    - “Sign up for our newsletter?”
    - “Want to hear more about our work?”

🔸*Donors who opt in can also be asked a follow-up question.*   
This gives you a chance to learn more about their interests — for example:

- - “Would you like to hear about volunteering?”
    - “Are you interested in regular giving?”

This helps you segment and tailor your follow-up, making your communications more effective.

#### 🔶2. How to activate this feature

Ready to start collecting donor email addresses?

Just contact our Support Team and tell us:

- - The **opt-in question** you'd like to appear on screen
    - (Optional) A **follow-up question** to capture preferences or interests

Once you’ve started collecting emails, it’s easy to access them through the GWD Customer Portal.

Just download your **Marketing Report**, which includes:

- - Donor email addresses
    - Time/date of opt-in
    - Responses to follow-up questions
