Rejections, Issues and Troubleshooting Automatic Gift Aid Reclaim Submissions
Find out what to do if HMRC rejects your Gift Aid submission and who to contact for help.
GWD cannot verify your HMRC Government Gateway username and password before a claim is submitted.
If the details entered into the GWD Auto Gift Aid form are incorrect, the submission will fail.
At the moment, failed claims cannot be resubmitted directly through the portal.
We plan to add this in a future update.
To avoid failed submissions, make sure that:
-
You test your Government Gateway login first by signing in to the HMRC portal before adding the details to the GWD setup form.
-
If your password changes, you update it in the Gift Aid setup page in the GWD portal once the new password has been confirmed as working.
-
If a claim fails, please contact GWD Support so we can help you resubmit the claim.
If HMRC identify any other issues with a claim after it has been submitted, they will contact the authorised person at your charity directly.
This usually happens by post, so it may take a couple of weeks after submission before you hear from them.
N.B. GWD are not notified of issues raised by HMRC after submission.
If HMRC contacts you about a claim, you will need to resolve the issue directly with their support team.
HMRC contact details can be found here.
