Designing Your Donation Station Pro Donor Journey

Everything you need to know to customise your Donation Station Pro on-screen supporter journey

What Can You Customise?

Here’s a breakdown of what you can personalise on your Donation Station Pro:

🔶 1. Attract Loop (Optional)

These are the images that play when the device isn’t in use – they catch attention and encourage people to tap.

Requirements:

🔸 3 – 5 landscape images (1280 x 800 pixels)

🔸 A strong message on each image e.g. Tap to Donate

🔸 Your logo

🔸 Your brand colours

Tip: Keep text short and clear. Use strong images that show your work and grab attention.

🔶 2. Causes (Optional)

You can give donors the option to choose where their donation goes  with up to four causes or campaigns.

Causes screenExamples include:

🔸 Running costs

🔸 Youth program

🔸 Roof appeal

🔸 Charity of the year

🔸 New equipment

🔸 Other (with free text message)

This helps engage a wider audience and lets you track giving by campaign in your reports.

🔶 3. Donation Amounts

You can choose three set amounts plus an “Other” option (e.g. £5 / £10 / £20 / Other).

Donation Amounts

We recommend:

🔸 Using your average donation as a starting point.

🔸 Adjusting amounts for each cause if needed.

🔸 Adding a heading and subheading e.g. Support our mission – every gift makes a difference.

Caution: In Ireland, contactless donations are limited to €50.

🔶 4. Cover Transaction Fees (Optional)

You can turn on an option for donors to cover the card transaction fee.

Most donors say yes – which means more funds for your charity. This is especially helpful if you accept international cards (which carry higher fees).

🔸Gift Aid (Optional)

Gift Aid lets UK charities claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated.

Asking for Gift Aid

You can choose to:

🔸Ask donors to complete a short declaration.

🔸 Enable “Remember my card” so future donations are automatically Gift Aided (optional).

Remember: This feature is not currently available in Republic of Ireland.

🔶 Email Receipt (Optional)

Offer donors the option to receive a receipt by email.

Email receipts

We recommend that you:

🔸 Include a link to your website.

🔸 Add a thank-you message.

Tip: Need to review the standard Email text?

Ask our support team for a copy.

🔶 Conversation Starter (Optional)

Ask one or two short questions at the end of the journey, in order to collect donor email addresses. This way you can collate different marketing lists depending on donor interest.

Make sure your questions are:

🔸 Clear and friendly

🔸 Relevant to your cause

🔸 Aligned with your data consent policy

Tips: You can add up to two short questions at the end of the donor journey to help grow your supporter base. These might ask for an email address or invite donors to express interest in things like regular giving.

  • Often used for marketing opt-ins or supporter engagement.
  • All responses are viewable in your GWD Customer Portal reports.
  • If using two questions, make sure they’re distinct and work well together.
  • You can customise subheadings to meet your data consent requirements.

🔶 Colour and Branding

You can customise your on-screen journey with:

🔸 Brand colours using a HEX code (we recommend using Colour-Hex)

🔸 Fonts and text for headings and messages

We’ll check everything for readability and accessibility before final setup.

Tip: Use a Colour Contrast Checker tool to ensure your choices are accessible.

🔶 Using a Strong Call to Action (CTA)

A Call to Action is a short, clear message that tells people what to do.

Common examples include:

🔸 "Tap to Donate"
🔸 "Donate Here"
🔸 "Give Today"
🔸 "Touch the screen to donate"

You can pair your CTA with a message that reflects your mission, like:

🔸 “Help us make a difference in our community”

🔸 "Your support changes lives"

Tip: Make sure there’s at least one “Donate” or “Tap” message visible on your branding or screensaver to avoid confusion.
